… is to save ourselves. The earth, barring any disaster on the galactic or universal level, will be just fine. It will flick us off like fleas and put on a nice icy scab for anywhere from 10,000 to 220,000,000 years, and keep on keepin’ on.
In addition to 99.9% of our genes, the only thing that humans of all cultures have in common is the will to survive.
Lots of folks either can’t think very far outside of their daily lives’ sphere or they just don’t care about the earth, so the green movement must do two things: 1. shift its focus and message to the real task at hand – maintaining the only place we know of where humans can survive and thrive, and 2. get green out of the luxury business and into the everyone business. Make less money on each individual and provide services and goods to many more people. Only then can we get enough folks on board.
My two cents.
:) Brooke
