Sweet relief. Cue the victory music. Walk with me, will you?
After closing on TheLOH at the end of April 2009, demolition on the Upper Yard began in June.
From the concrete sea…

…to the first ceremonial swing of the sledgehammer…

…to the smashing…

…and smashing (and smashing and smashing and smashing)…

…and the hauling (and hauling and hauling and hauling).

Remember The Mold House?

Remember the five layers of concrete surprise under the top layer?

Finally – a blank slate.

We picked up some straw bales from the local tack & feed shop and had a bonfire on our new dirt lawn. After all those years in NYC and all these months of hard labor, it was so, so sweet.
Destruction, over – construction, commence!
Tomorrow, I’ll show you the new and improved Upper Yard plans…

Congrats!! What a big project outta the way. Looking forward to seeing the yard take on new life. (Also, I’m a little jealous of your sun-soaked hay bales and bonfires. It’s still snowy and frozen up here!)
Thank you for your encouragement, gals! Where are you, Sue?
